Ribosome

Ribosomes are the protein synthesizers of the cell. Ribosomes are found in many places around the cell. They can be found in either the cytoplasm on the endoplasmic reticulum. Endoplasmic reticulum with attached ribosomes is called rough. Those attached ribosomes make proteins that will be used inside the cell and proteins made for export out of the cell. Ribosomes are made up of two subunits: a large and a small subunit. These two units join together when the ribosome attaches to messenger RNA to produce a protein in the cytoplasm
